May Co. Truck Smoked Its' Brakes

Okay, so how do you NOT smoke your brakes while coming off a long, steep grade (Cabbage, in this case)??

Answer, drop some gears and let your engine hold you back. Don't stand on the brake pedal, that'll for sure get you in trouble!! Don't feel the need to hotdog and show off how fast you can go skiing downhill!! Pretty soon, you feel out of control and use too much brake for too long and you smoke 'em.

If you do smoke, stop asap safely and only set the trailer brakes. Don't set the tractor while they cool.

Why? Because, basically, your brakes "watery" and if you set the tractors', you run the risk of warping the wheels. Better your trailer wheels than the tractor.

Now, stay safe!!

Thank you for your comment. Since I'm not always 'on' the 'puter, I have to wait till I'm in buckshot of the 'net somewhere. This may take some time so don't despair if you don't see your post immediately. I'll get around to it...or not. :-)
