For Some Fun....

Scroll down to the bottom of this page and what do you see??  That's right.  Little fishies swimming around.  What do they do??  Not much, as far as I can tell but they are cute.  Put your cursor in the box, do a click and watch the little buggers swim like all get out to get the 'food' you left.  Pretty funny in my book.

Just messin' around now.  Having some fun.  Getting over the flu.  What else do you expect me to do??

Also, I added a video bar to the right hand side.  It's supposed to show lots of truck vids and pictures.  Kenworths in particular and some Peterbilts.  I'm not sure what it's supposed to "do" but it's interesting, don't you think??

Okay, back to getting over the flu....

Another Big Bridge in Portland, OR

I think this is one that raises and lowers to let ships through. Don't know what else it could be. Still, mighty impressive, huh??

Found My Book!!

Hubby went back to the restaurant this morning. He found the waitress from last night and she had put my book aside. The others didn't know that.

Sooooo.....I have my book and can continue on my journey, from the book, that is. Yay!!

Lost My Reading Book Last Night....Grrrr!

We grabbed a shower and then went next door to eat. We like to read while we eat. We talk all the time anyway so, to us, it's not rude.

Anywho, we got up to leave and I was digging out the tip money from my pocket and, I'm guessing, I set it down and walked off.

I was 3/4th way through too!!

The Mighty Mississippi Is Flooded!!

Just looka how high it is! On the opposite bank, the river is way up there, no bank to be seen! It's kind of scary when you see the power of the river and the awe it inspires. Wow.

Again, If You're Afraid Of Interstate Driving, Sctay The Hell Off!

This is not that hard, people!!

Case in point, just a few days ago, outside of St Louis, it was 3 lanes and some lady in a small SUV was in the middle lane. She had a death grip on the steering wheel and going a good 15 mph slower than traffic. This scenario is uber dangerous.

I came up behind her, not realizing how slow she was going. I slammed on the brakes and flashed my headlights at her. She was NOT going to move over. So I ccould only pass on the right and did so.

Then the lady decided she needed to take the next exit and cut across 2 lanes, right in front of the trucke behind me, who was trying to pass also.

That truck had to slam on their brakes and you could see his entire rig shimmy, trying to evade the lady. I'll just betcha there was plenty of cussin' going on in the big rig!! I know I said some uncharitable things!!

Anyway, the point is, if you, or anyone, is scared out of your wits on a major thoroughfare, stay the feck off of it and perhaps save your life and perhaps others!! It is not hard!

Joey Is In Town!!

This was in Morris, IL. We stopped to take a break and grab something to swill and I pulled into the fuel island. I didn't realize at first what was going on, just irritated that one lane was blocked and acted appropriately so. Then I looke closer and realized Joey was a-singin' his heart out.

Yep, that is the nose of a truck sticking out of the side of his trailer. A little girl was singing "Celebration".

A few people were standing around but mostly just walking on by. Hey, entertainers have to pay their dues just like everyone else! I did think it was odd he's starting out but that is one NICE rig he's travelling. That didn't compute but overall, at least he's out trying to make a living and not at home, collecting welfare and eating bon bons, while seated on the couch.

Today Is The Longest Day Of The Year

...and it feels like it...

Today is the Summer Solstice and don't you feel good about this?? All I know is it's feckin' hot and we almost got ill while loading this morning.

Still, I'll take this over freezing cold and ice hanging off my fingers and nose!

Yep, that is a burned out Peterbilt. It's at the Bosselman in Big Springs, NE. It kind of looked like the driver might have been smoking in bed as evidenced by the mattress charmingly flung over the passenger seat back.

The driver showed to pick at the husk but I didn't have the nerve to ask him questions. It was obvious he was down, poor guy.

Well, we'll see how long it takes them to remove this thing. Oh, also, before I forget, wondered what the trucks parked around it did when it was realized there was a major fire going on. If someone were hauling wood (products), like we do, that could have been doubly bad as sparks could have drifted and started a new fire on a load.

Very scary if you think about it.

Anyone know what this building is or its use?? It's between Lincoln and Omaha, NE. It's kind of up a slight hill and the sides look like plate glass.

We thought maybe it was used for storing hay but with the glass sides, you'd be just begging for a hay barn fire.

Then we thought of a church but it looks like there isn't any internal structures.

We have looked at it for seems like a few years and for once I was able to get a picture, sucky one that it is. At least I got it.

So, what is it used??

Vacay Was Great! Back At Work And Making The Money! Yeah!!

We are soooo rested...well, wait, I take that back.  We are somewhat rested.  No, that's a lie.  We need a vacay so we can rest up from our vacay!  Yeah, now I gots it so right.

Good Lord, we snoozed, we watched TV, we visited, we shopped (the bank account is groaning), we ate like pigs (see last post for particulars), we traveled (as if we don't do enough as it is), we....(fill in the blank).

So, our truck was in the shop and we picked her up yesterday, swung by to pick up the empty skateboard and on to pick up a load of expensive, expensive you-wouldn't-believe-how-expensive plywood (yes, plywood) that some manufacturer just can't live without.  Did I mention the plywood was/is uber expensive??  It would floor you to know what one sheet costs!  Wow, people actually buy this stuff??  Well, someone die, we're hauling it and glad to do so.  What do I care how much someone wants to spend as long as I get to haul it some'eres.

I'm tellin' ya, I'm sort of glad to be back and driving.  Still the stoopid people out there behind the wheel but I'm glad to be back.  My baby girl KW missed us too.  Since we picked her up yesterday, it's so great to hear that jake brake rumble and to feel all that 550 Cat power lugging us up hill and dale.

So, life goes on and I'm back and will keep on keeping on!!

Good Cookin' In The Wok

We're visiting with some friends and the son decided to feed us. Oh, hell yeah! So, he dragged out his wok and got to cookin'. However,....

Take a really close look at the wok. What does it look like? Yep, if you guess a plow disc, you're oh-so-right. Our friend's son is one of those multitalented people who can do anything.

Oh, he's selling these puppies too.

Okie dokie, let’s give it a whirl, shall we??

I Locked Ouselves Out Of The Hotel Room

It only took about 20 minutes for me to accomplish this. When I realized the door was locked, I trudge aaalllll the way to the front office to beg another key. The lady behind the desk took a gander at me and without preamble or my 'splaining, said, and I qote, "Already, huh?".

Yep, she knew 'the look'.

I got ourselves back into our room pretty quickly...

The Blight Of The American Highways....

The American tourist. Good honk, there are oodles of people out and about! ...and they all think they are soooo important, don't we know who they are?? Such maroons!!

I'm still on vacay but just HAD to post this. My truck is in the shop, the mechanic found a broken valve spring and so it's the ICU for her. We knew she hadn't been feeling right and now we know what the prob was/is. My baby will gets all better now!!

Stay safe, everyone!

Have Officially Started Vacay....

Will be back soonest.  Probably be 'gone' for about a week or so.  I've tried to make some posts that will automatically post in my absence but we all know how my computer skills don't work so well.  I'll give it a shot anyway.  If nothing shows up, rest assured, I'll be back shortly and will make up any shortfall.

Everyone stay safe and enjoy your days.  Don't want nuthin' to happen to any of my readers!!

'Bout Had It With Bitchy Receptionists....

I called to talk to shipping and no one answered.

Okay, so I called back to ask the receptionist directions. She was/is one of thosse people that when she says something quickly and slightly mumbles, you still better know what she said. This kind of broad doesn't brook any sort of arguement!!

But finally, I got the directions out of her. Whew!! What a job!!

If only I were a drinker....guess I'll settle for a Pepsi on ice. Just as good!!

Swear To God, Some Of These Customers Sure Go Overboard About Unloading

But you can't say anything or they get ticked and take an extra long time. Or take long breaks or have to go to luch.

So, here I sit, waiting on princess to get with the program. Gone are the days I could chaarm them into unloading sooner. A lot of the guys now are young enough to be my son and are so friggin' touchy about everything, I get nowhere.

So, here I sit.....I'll let you know if I ever get unloaded...

May Co. Truck Smoked Its' Brakes

Okay, so how do you NOT smoke your brakes while coming off a long, steep grade (Cabbage, in this case)??

Answer, drop some gears and let your engine hold you back. Don't stand on the brake pedal, that'll for sure get you in trouble!! Don't feel the need to hotdog and show off how fast you can go skiing downhill!! Pretty soon, you feel out of control and use too much brake for too long and you smoke 'em.

If you do smoke, stop asap safely and only set the trailer brakes. Don't set the tractor while they cool.

Why? Because, basically, your brakes "watery" and if you set the tractors', you run the risk of warping the wheels. Better your trailer wheels than the tractor.

Now, stay safe!!

When Hauling Horses, Close The Damn Window Bars!!

A little. Bit ago, just west of Laramie, WY, a horse hauler from Auburn, WA passed me. I couldn't get a pic because I was driving and it was in a construction zone. The name was Bevoir Equine Transportation. It was about 8:30 am PT.

Anywho, the window was down and the horse was sticking its entire head out! What the hell!!??

I told them over the CB to shut the window. Maybe they didn't hear me and didn't respond.

Got to get back on the road but open windows where horsie can stick their head while rig is moving is a BIG no-NO! And stupid to boot!!
