Yes, That's The Men's Restroom

I had to pull into a huge building and wouldn't you know, the guy had me stop right HERE! Oh, yes, he sure did.

There was a guy in there but I pretended not to see him and let him make his escape gracefully.

Yep, the things you see as a female truck driver....

Customer Locked Us In!!

I mean, really, who doesn't check their premises before locking up and leaving??

Our customer sure didn't!!

Hubby got someone on the phone and the guy came back to unlock...

Never have had that happen before....

Found A Broker Who Is Dumber Than A Box Of Rocks

If it's possible, I found her.

It was like carrying on a one-sided convo. I'd say something or ask a question and on the other end?? Crickets chirping.

"Hello?", I'd say, then she'd kind of interject a sickly "Yes, I'm here."

So, I'd ask or say again and the crickets. When I asked to speak with the other broker, I got a little cricket pause and then, "What do you want to talk to her about?"

Hello?? Have martians invaded your bod??

Finally, she told me to call the customer directly. Like she couldn't have told me that from the get-go.

And people wonder why we truckers are so feckin' grouchy!!

Is The Cute Dog Drving??

I took this yesterday. No, the truck was still but it sure looks like McGruff (doesn't he look like the detevtive dog?) Was toodling down the road.

I guess he's a Golden Retreiver or similar. My yappers were barking their heads off and this dog just looked over our way in the most phlegmatic way. I don't think you could get him excited over too much.

Anyway, he was a cutie, in a clodhopper sort of way!

What Are These Things??

I've seen them on trucks but don't know what they do.

I'm guessing something to do with channeling the wind to cut down on wind resistance?? Yeah, right, a big rig that can just "slip" through the wind...

Well, if it works or at least helps, I guess...

Some Receivers Need A Personality Transplant

I'm telling you, today, we've had the unmitigated JOY of twits whose whole, wide world consist of their job and probably a domineering wife.

So who do they take it out on?? Us humble drivers.

Damn, we should get combat pay for dealing with these clods...whaddya think??

This Is Ginger

Isn't she adorable?? She's a Siamese and, like her breed, slightly cross-eyed.

She watched my two brat dogs for the longest time. Even though she looks like a dream, I suspect she might be a little fighter if she were to get up close and personal with the doggies.

Such blue eyes!

This Is Why You Do A Pre-Trip

Someone didn't check all the way around after fueling. It was raining and water is getting into the tank. I'm not talking about a gentle rain, I mean a real frog croaker.

I tied to raise the driver on the CB but nothing. Then I donned my western hat and went over to knock on his door and sleeper. Nothing.

Now, I don't like to touch other drivers' trucks but without my putting the cap on, way more water was going into the tank and cause him/her problems down the road.

I put the cap on. Felt kind of weird because now the driver won't get a wake up call to check their truck.

A Correction

Heh, yesterday I posted that I hit my drive tire and crunched the lug nut covers and obliterated the hubcap.

Well, it was the left steer tire.

That drive/steer tire thing is soooo confusing...

Limon, CO Flying J, You Know It!!

Yep, another rant about another Flying J...read on....

Stopped today to get something to drink. Went to the counter. Spied a Loooong line. Looked at the other end of the counter and the register is closed but two women behind the counter. Went to the other end and got. in. line.

Again, two registers and one is closed! Long line a-waiting! Hello?? Anyone home?? Anyone notice the PAYING customers in the line?? Nope, just biz as usual.

I got to talking with a guy in line (hello out there, if you ar reading! *waving*) and he said something about the line and there being more people behind the counter than in line.

Yep, that was just about right. Do you think that the employees made ANY sort of move to open SOMEthing up? Nope.

So, me being the shy sort (that's a lie), I announced to God and all his hosts that more registers needed to be opened. The employees looked up at me and still no move to fix things.

Mr. Guy In Line said something like they weren't going to do anything. I said, "That's okay, I have a trucking blog." ...and here I am.

Finally got to pay for my drink bur, jeez loo-ieeze, don't you think that out of four registers, more than one should be open??

Then, to top it off, I had to back my rig out because some clod parked in front me in the fuel island and he damn sure wasn't going to move till he got good and ready and don't you dare push him to move!!

So, I backed out and left.

But, really, Flying J, when are you as a company going to get your act together?? I'm waiting!!

Sucky Day At Black Rock

I mean, really. Today flat sucked. Wanna read ALL about it??? Read on, dear reader...

First off, a driver lost control of his rig and plowed into my trailer. No real damage to my trailer except a broken marker light.

His power unit?? Wow, that fiberglass just doesn't hold up very well when it meets a metal bumper rail. It was a mess!!

Trouble was, he couldn't find his insurance papers! Hello?? Or didn't want to find them.

Anyhoo, that was numero uno and now for the rest of my frickin' day...

Then, went to the KW dealer and they didn't have the right marker light. Spent a lot of time finding this out instead of off the get- go.

Then, drove to the customers and while I was getting a light weight, I hit the low side reail and knocked off a full HALF of my covers and hubcap on the left drive tire... never have I even come close to touching those puppies, but I sure crunched them but good.

The guys (of couse there were oodles of tough guy drivers standing around) had the good sense to not snicker when I pulled the covers off (what was left of them) and tossed them into the dumpster.

Hubby got pretty damn exasperated with that stunt, I can tell you. I heard about this for a good 15 minutes or so....like I didn't know it was a boo-boo in the first place.

THEN! The customer used my brand new ink pen to sign the BOL and, since I was busy, he put my pen on the step below my drivers' door.

Guess what I broke into two pieces when I stepped on it??

Yup, you'd be right, it was my pen. It hurt to throw it away with all that unused ink!

So, now, I'm kicked back and gonna drink a 7 Up, read a bit and go to bed. What. A. Day.

Teeth Infection!!

I don't like to get to personal on this blog but this is pretty damn important.

I hadn't been feeling 100% and couldn't figger out why.

My last two wisdom teeth were starting to bother me so we swung by a dentists' office in one of the big truckstops and had them pulled.

Get this, one had a pretty good infection going and the other, the infection was getting a foothold!

Anyhoo, the upshot is, I now feel sooooo much better. Got all the poison out of my system. My headaches are pretty well gone too. Yahooooo!

The thing is, I floss and bush all the time and still got bad teeth. Couldn't believe it!

An internet friend told me that infected teeth can caus strokes and heart attacks from the poison.

So, do yourself a favor and hie yourself down to your favorite dentist for at least a tooth cleaning. It might cost a bit of dough but better and cheaper than the aftereffects of a stroke/heart attack or death.

Now, go do it!!

I've Wanted To Show This For The Longest Time...

Finally, I was able to get a photo! I think a big rig must've plowed into the corner of the house. It's a two storey house.

What I don't understand is why someone doesn't clean the joint up. It's been like this for several months now. Maybe someone forgot to make the insurance payments?? Hmmmm???

This is the goofy car those tornado chasers use in the TV show. I can't think of the show's name but they are going all over the Midwest trying to get videos of tornados.

Personally, I think/thought they are/were nutso to try this.

But, hey, it's a job...

Union Unloads, I'm About To Scream

I swear, Unions are going to be the death of our country.

I'm trying to get a load of "wind products" off my trailer and these guys are slower than molasses. They must be Union. If there is a hard or slower way to do things, these guys, I'm pretty sure, will find it.

Gah!!

Better Picture Of License Plate

Okay, I'm through driving for the day and can give more info.

First thing, the businesses around this area have nothing to do with this situation. So, I'm giving the area where this dog is during the day but not the business's names.

In Denver, go to Havana Street, turn north, go to 51st and turn right. Go to Joliet and turn back north. Go about 3/4ths a city block and along that street is this dog and pickup.

I don't know for sure if the dog had food or water but wasn't going to get close enough to look in the bed. I do know that during the entire time we were loading, no one checked on the dog.

I saw him and thought it was one of the company's customers and someone would be back to get him. After a couple of hours, it dawned on us that he was barking his head off. He was lonely, I'm sure!

As we finished up tarping, I saw two guys and asked them and one of them said hea owned the dog. The other guy was all business, didn't want to get into it, not that I blame him! But the owner was a smart alecky guy smoking down to the filter of his cig. He had that lazy slacker look and thinks he's atough guy.

I laid into him and finally said he didn't need a dog if he would let an animal sit all day in above conditions. The other guy walked away and I backed my big rig out of the yard.

Once I had my rig out and parked, I went over, still in the street, and took pictures then went back to my rig.

I guess slacker boy must have been watching because as we were leaving, he got his fat @$$ out ther and took the dog for a potty break. Somehow, he didn't seem so "tough" either. He was slinking along. At least the dog got out of the pickup bed.

So, other than calling the Humane Society, what else can be done?

Do You Live In Denver? Can You Help?

First off, I thought I got a shot of his license plate but you can barely read it. It's a Washington state plate.

This poor dog has been left in the bed of this pickup from when we got there (this was a customers' place but the pickup is on the street, not in the parking lot) at 11:30 am till 3:30pm. It was in the high 30's, temp wise. The dog had food and water but no shelter.

I found his owner and he said if I didn't like it, call the Humane Society. Well, I might still but I have this blog.

I have to get on the road and will have more info later. But if you are in that area, swing by and take a lookie loo.

This Guy Who's Loading Us...I Feel Sorry For Him!

Porr guy!

He keeps killing the hysters' engine. He's pushing the product too far over then has to go to the other side of my flatbed and pushes it too far the other way. Then, you guessed it, he has to go BACK around and finally gets it centered.

Then, to top it off, he looks like a blue haired little old lady driving the the thing! The way he steers!

Really, I'm trying not to smirk where he can see or hear me. Even my hubby is like "my God...".

Wow.

Taking A Few Days Off...Needs It!!

I just gotta take a few days off the truck.  Getting a leeetle weird, if you know what I mean!

That's the trouble with being really good at something...sometimes you just don't know when to quit and run yourself into the ground and start being a jackass to folks around you.  Plus, you're making da' dough and that, in itself, is kind of addicting, especially in this economy.  Always being a little bit afraid the money cow is gonna go poof into this good night.

(Already sounding a bit strange, huh??)

Sooooo....off the truck I am, with hubby and pooches.  Kicking back, watching TV (what is THAT??) and enjoying some shopping/eating good food.   I have some pics to post and will do so in the next few days.  Probably will be back on the truck about Monday or so.

Thanks to all my readers for following and hopefully enjoying my rants and raves.
